Q&A with Arlington Committee of 100 member Virginia Karl

Why Arlington? What brought you to Arlington and what do you enjoy about it?

We liked Arlington and bought a house here in 1950 after renting here since 1945.

 

How did you first learn about the Arlington Committee of 100?

My husband Ernie Karl and I were neighbors at Lee Garden Apartments with Margaret and Lyle Bryant in 1945. Lyle asked Ernie to help him start a group interested in Arlington concerns.

 

What Committee of 100 Program did you find particularly enjoyable and why?

I've been coming to Committee of 100 programs for 60 years! - who can remember?

 

Tell us a little about your professional experience, or an issue or cause that you're passionate about.

I was an MSW social worker for the Veterans Administration.

 

What do you like to do on your spare time?

Travel.
